I LOVE MY CITY 2025

Join us for the annual I Love My City event on May 17, 2025, in Hermiston! This community-driven initiative brings together residents to beautify our city and responsibly dispose of waste. The event includes the Community Recycling Event, Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, Shredding Services, and Free Mattress Removal. It’s free for all Hermiston residents, and we’re excited to see you there!

Event Details

  • Date: May 17, 2025
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (specific services have varying hours, see below)
  • Locations:
    • Community Clean-Up Events (Volunteer Opportunities!): Specific areas around Hermiston will be targeted, see ilovehermiston.com for more info.
    • Community Recycling Event, Shredding Services, and Free Mattress Removal: New Hope Community Church, 1350 S Hwy, Hermiston (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
    • Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event: Umatilla County Fair Office/Old Mid Columbia Bus Co., 1740 E. Airport Rd., Hermiston (across from EOTEC) (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)

Note: This event does not accept radioactive waste, asbestos, ammunition, explosives, sharps, pharmaceuticals, or electronic waste.

Tips for Safe Waste Delivery (Household Hazardous Waste Collection)

  • Use Safe Containers:
    • Keep products in securely-sealed original containers when possible.
    • Place items in boxes or sturdy containers; do not use plastic garbage bags.
    • No containers larger than 5 gallons.
  • Waste Collected from Vehicle:
    • Materials will be collected from your trunk, cargo area, or truck bed.
    • Please do not bring additional passengers or pets.
    • No smoking during the event.
  • Follow Instructions at Event:
    • Event staff will provide guidance to ensure a smooth and safe process.

Who can participate?
This event is free for all Hermiston and Umatilla County residents. The Hazardous Waste Collection is brought to you by Oregon DEQ, Umatilla County, City of Hermiston, and Sanitary Disposal.
