- Complete the Application for Standing Committee Vacancies (PDF), also available at City Hall.
- Turn the application into City Recorder Lilly Alarcon-Strong, CMC, at City Hall or by email.
The City Council approved formation of the Ad-Hoc Charter Review Committee on July 28, 2025 to review the current City Charter and may make recommended changes, amendments, or determine that no changes are necessary. In addition to a full review, the Council has asked the committee to provide specific recommendations on:
Read MoreLeaders of Hermiston’s faith community meet to advise the City Council on areas where City goals cross paths with programs currently offered by the local faith community. The committee has been involved with such projects as the I Love My City cleanup and services days, local school adoptions, Family Promise, and Feed Hermiston.
Interested in Getting Involved? Read MoreThe Planning Commission is a quasi-judicial committee that hears, develops, and recommends land use decisions to the City Council. This can include the Comprehensive Plan, Zoning and Planning Ordinances, Urban Growth Boundaries, and other planning issues such as Urban Renewal Applications.

Read MoreThe Public Infrastructure Committee was formed as a subcommittee of the City Council to study specific issues in more depth. This subcommittee reviews and recommends policies and practices of Hermiston's public infrastructure system to the City Council. The subcommittee also reviews the Capital Improvement Projects annually for planning and budgeting purposes.
