Horizon Park
Built in 2023 within the Legacy Development, Horizon Park is a one-acre neighborhood park serving residents in northeastern Hermiston.
The park’s name was inspired by its location along a ridge, which provides views of Hermiston and the surrounding horizon.
As part of the park’s original development in 2023, the grass turf was installed during the annual I Love My City event. With the help of community volunteers, approximately one acre of sod was laid in less than two hours, quickly transforming the site’s sandy soil into a usable neighborhood park.
The original park development also included concrete and asphalt walking paths and an outer asphalt trail that creates a 0.18-mile loop around the park.
In 2026, the City of Hermiston completed a new playground and half-court basketball court, expanding the park’s recreational opportunities for children, families and neighborhood residents.
Tree Planting Partnership
In 2024, the City of Hermiston partnered with AWS and the Arbor Day Foundation to plant six elm trees at Horizon Park. As the trees mature, they will provide additional shade, improve the park’s appearance and offer long-term environmental benefits.
