Hermiston City Council Approves 810 Acre Urban Growth Boundary Expansion

The Hermiston City Council on Monday approved expanding the city’s Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) by about 810 acres in the South Hermiston Industrial Park to allow for future large-scale data centers.  The Council also approved annexation of the area Monday, which expands the physical size of the city by nearly 20%.

Hermiston City Council Advances Improvement District to Build NW 2nd Street

The Hermiston City Council voted 7-1 Monday to advance the formation of a Local Improvement District (LID) to upgrade NW 2nd Street between W. Elm Avenue and W. Cherry Avenue, a key connector expected to see higher traffic volumes following upcoming changes at the Elm Avenue/Highway 395 intersection.

Hermiston City Council Receives Update on EOTEC RV Park Location

The Hermiston City Council received an update Monday on the location of a planned RV Park tied to the City’s agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The agreement, approved in May, commits the City to construct a minimum of 100 RV spaces with preference for AWS employees or contractors. In exchange, AWS will provide $8 million in compensation over the course of the project.

Notice is hereby given that on May 19, 2026, an election will be held in the City of Hermiston, Umatilla County, Oregon for office of the following:

  • Ward Councilors- Four-year term beginning 01/01/2027 to 12/31/2030
    • Ward I
    • Ward II
    • Ward III
    • Ward IV
  • Municipal Judge – Two-year term beginning 01/01/2027 to 12/31/2028

Elections shall be nonpartisan.  Your choice of candidates will be presented upon the official ballot, conducted by mail, and shall be voted upon by all qualified voters of the City.
