Senior Financial Analyst
Overview
The City of Hermiston is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Senior Financial Analyst to support the City’s financial operations. Salary range $74,457 - $90,586 annually, DOE/DOQ. This position is ideal for candidates with strong analytical capabilities, a commitment to accuracy, and experience in governmental or complex accounting environments.

Position Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for maintaining the City’s general ledger, processing accounts payable, reconciling bank accounts, and preparing monthly and annual financial reports. The role also assists with the annual audit and budget development process, supports financial forecasting and asset management, maintains accounting system functions, and provides occasional customer service support.
Key Responsibilities
• Enter and code financial transactions accurately
• Prepare journal entries and maintain depreciation schedules
• Manage employee credit card and fuel card reconciliations
• Complete annual IRS filings
• Assist with debt issuance and required disclosure reporting
• Coordinate with external auditors and accounting firms
• Maintain comprehensive financial records and documentation
• Support financial modeling, forecasting, and accounting system administration
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
• At least three (3) years of progressively responsible technical accounting experience
• Experience in a municipal or public sector environment preferred
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience that demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions will be considered
• Knowledge of governmental budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and accounting practices
• Understanding of accounts payable processing, financial record keeping, governmental bookkeeping, and related principles and procedures
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally, effectively, and tactfully with staff, contractors, and the public
