City of Hermiston Seeking Feedback on Safety Action Plan

Hermiston Safety Plan

Between Spring 2024 and Winter 2025, the City of Hermiston is developing a Safety Action Plan. The plan will identify safety improvements to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on the City’s transportation system for people driving, biking, walking, and rolling.

Funded by a federal grant, this safety action plan will:

  • Bring together an advisory committee to help guide the plan’s development
  • Set a goal to aim for zero fatal and serious injury crashes
  • Understand current trends, policies, and needs
  • Gather community input
  • Develop safety strategies and an implementation plan
  • Establish and track performance measures to monitor safety over time

Residents are a key part of this Safety Action Plan. Their input helps the City make important transportation decisions.

Residents can learn more about the project and provide feedback at this online open house between May 10 and May 28. Comments are invited on existing concerns about transportation safety in Hermiston and identifying possible locations and ideas for improvements.

Comments are also accepted at any time to the City Planning Department at planning@hermiston.gov or by mail to 180 NE 2nd Street, Ste. 211, Hermiston, OR, 97838.
