Notice of Primary Election Results

Notice is hereby given that on May 19, 2026, an election was held in the City of Hermiston, Umatilla County, Oregon for the office of Ward Councilors (four-year terms) and Municipal Judge (two-year term).  The results provided by the Umatilla County Elections Division are as follows:

  • City Councilor- Four year term beginning 01/01/2027 to 12/31/2030
    • Ward I
      • Krista Van Veen - 1,376 votes
      • Jackie M. Linton - 833 votes
      • Write-In - 8
    • Ward II
      • Roy N. Barron - 1,538 votes
      • Caleb Jacobs - 565
      • Write-In - 9
    • Ward III
      • Barbara J. Martin - 1,148 votes
      • Leeann Wornell - 630 votes
      • Write-In - 15 votes
    • Ward IV
      • David Patrick McCarthy - 1,310 votes
      • Manuel Flores III - 564 votes
      • Write-In - 7 votes
  • Municipal Judge- Two year term beginning 01/01/2027 to 12/31/2028
    • Cameron R. Bendixsen - 1,819 votes
    • Write-In - 28 votes 

 

The City Charter states the Ward Councilor and Municipal Judge candidates will run in the Primary Election.

If there are two (2) or less candidates then the Primary Election will determine who will be elected into office.

If three (3) or more candidates file, then the May Primary Election shall be considered the primary election and the two (2) candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be the nominees whose names shall appear on the ballot for the November General Election.  However, should any candidate receive a majority of all votes cast for the office at the May primary election, then the name of that candidate shall be printed separately on the ballot at the general election under the designation equivalent to “Vote for One” and no other name shall be printed on the ballot in opposition to such candidate, with the exception of one space left blank following such name in which the voter may insert the name of any person for whom the voter wishes to cast a ballot.

As such, Cameron R. Bendixsen has been elected as the Municipal Court Judge; and Krista Van Veen, Roy N. Barron, Barbara J. Martin, and David Patrick McCarthy have been elected into their respective Ward Council positions.
