Notice Regarding Unlicensed Food Vendors

Unlicensed vendors

City of Hermiston Code Enforcement is aware of a significant increase in unlicensed food vendors. Due to potential public health risks, we are working together with partner agencies in Umatilla County and southeastern Washington who are familiar with these vendors.

All mobile and temporary food vendors in Hermiston are required to be licensed by the City and by Umatilla County Health. In order to be a licensed vendor, all of the following items are required:

  • The operation must be within an enclosed truck or trailer and at an approved location.
  • A business license from the City of Hermiston
  • A mobile vending license from the City of Hermiston
  • A certification from the Umatilla County Health Department
  • A permit for fats, oils, and grease disposal and handling
  • A hand wash station is required for employees
  • Proper refrigeration and heating of food is required

A vendor is eligible to operate within the City of Hermiston only upon satisfaction of all City ordinances and County Health requirements. All licenses must be displayed and visible to the public.

The City maintains a list of approved mobile food vendors here.

If you see a food vendor that is not in an approved mobile unit or does not have all required licenses and certifications on display, this is an unlicensed vendor. To protect the public health, please report vendors to code enforcement, Umatilla County Health, or the police department non-emergency number after hours. The City of Hermiston will issue citations to unlicensed vendors.
